Ancestral Healing Resources
I feel it's important to mention that I personally am not drawn to learn from men, especially white men. However, the following work has changed my life in unimaginable ways and Daniel is a high exception to that feeling in my own life:
Ancestral Lineage Healing Online Course - Ancestral lineage healing refers to a process of coming into direct relationship with one’s recent and more ancient blood ancestors for personal, family, and cultural healing. The approach is non-dogmatic, ritually informed, and inclusive to people of diverse ancestries. Lessons emphasize psychological and energetic safety as well as participants’ ability to relate directly and beneficially with their own ancestors. Although this course provides a strong conceptual framework for ancestral engagement, the work itself is experiential. No need for a spiritual calling or prior experience with the ancestors to participate. This course is for personal growth and is not a practitioner training.
If an online class is not of interest, his book may be a good place to start: https://ancestralmedicine.org/rituals-for-personal-and-family-healing/
I am currently taking this course, which also works with ancestors:
Practical Animism Online Course - Animism is a way of life that emphasizes relationships. Animists see the world as full of persons, both human and other-than-human, and prioritize living in respectful ways with these others. Animism is largely about ethics or core values that get expressed through more or less fancy practices, rituals, and everyday habits.
Sacred Instructions - Indigenous Wisdom for Living Spirit-Based Change: The most important book of my life. Drawing from ancestral knowledge, as well as her experience as an attorney and activist, Sherri Mitchell addresses some of the most crucial issues of our day, such as environmental protection and human rights. Sharing the gifts she has received from elders around the world, Mitchell urges us to decolonize our language and our stories. For those seeking change, this book offers a set of cultural values that will preserve our collective survival for future generations.
If Women Rose Rooted - A passionate song to a different kind of femininity, a rallying cry for women to reawaken their natural power – not just for the sake of their own wellbeing, but for love of this threatened earth.
Sexual Awakening for Women - A Tantric Workbook: A way to reconnect with sacred female sexual energy, and work through sexual trauma in your body.
The Wise Heart by Jack Kornfield: A great book about Buddhist practices that release suffering and anxiety. Jack comes from a childhood devoid of love and caring, and in this book he talks about how to move through that grief in order to re-learn how to live in the world in a loved and held way.
Martín Prechtel - In his native New Mexico Martín teaches at his international school Bolad’s Kitchen: a hands on historical and spiritual immersion into language, music, ritual, farming, cooking, smithing, natural colors, architecture, animal raising, clothing, tools, story, grief and humor to help people from many lands, cultures and backgrounds to remember and retain the majesty of their diverse origins while cultivating the flowering of integral culture in the present to grow a time of hope beyond our own.
